In the Gospel for the 12 th Sunday in Ordinary Time (Matthew 10: 26-33), Jesus says, “Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father. But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.”
It seems as if the struggle between good and evil has never been as great as it is now. Each of us has a choice to make. Will we follow Christ or not? Will we put our faith into action or not? Will we choose the Kingdom of God or the kingdom of darkness?

Our Blessed Lord tells us, “Fear no one. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.” In our day and age, the courageous witness of Christians is urgently needed. It is needed in family life and in the workplace. It is needed in the Church and in the public sphere. We must not be afraid, but we must be people of faith.
As Jesus tells us, “And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.”
