I would like to congratulate all of the children of our parish who celebrated their First Holy Communion last Saturday at the 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Masses here at St. Mary’s. It was a beautiful day and it was a beautiful Mass. It is always such a special day for our parish family and it was great to see families gathered to finally celebrate this festive occasion. The children and their families had to wait for this opportunity since last May but, judging by the smiles, it was well worth it. This has indeed been a year unlike any other in our lifetimes.
I would like to thank our Religious Education staff, our catechists, teachers, volunteers, administration and, of course, the parents. The parents are to be the first and best of teachers in the ways of the faith (for their children). Please keep these children and their families in your prayers. May their love for the Eucharist grow with each passing year.
On a different note, Fr. Spisak will be away from the parish from November 5th through January 11, 2021 (approximately). He will be having hip replacement surgery. Please keep him in your prayers. While he is gone, I am currently arranging, with the help of the Diocese, for Priestly assistance here at the parish. While I hope to maintain the current liturgical schedule for our parish, some temporary modifications may be necessary during this time period. As plans are developed and finalized, I will keep you informed throughout the process.
Please join us for the Blessing of the Animals this Sunday, October 4th at 3:00 p.m., in the Athletic Field adjacent to the west parking lot. All are welcome and social distancing will be observed.
May God bless you and your loved ones with good health and a deep and active faith.
