All throughout the parish grounds this week were the sounds of song, laughter, and learning as we celebrated Vacation Bible School for our children and families. The theme for this year was “Treasured” and the song the children sang each morning repeated the phrase, “I am a priceless treasure. God knows me. God hears me. God is my comfort. I am His and there’s nothing better. Forgiven and chosen forever and ever.” These words summarize the Gospel we hear this weekend of Jesus healing the afflicted woman and the daughter of Jairus. Jesus has been given power by the Father to bring healing and new life to all who ask. No one is too small or insignificant. Jesus knows our wounds and struggles; Jesus hears our prayers. Let us bring our whole selves to the Eucharist each week to receive his comfort and forgiveness.
One of the treasured celebrations in our Diocese each year is the annual Catholic Family Festival, “The FEST!” This year the event will be on Sunday, August 8th, and has moved from the grounds of Borromeo Seminary to the Cleveland Metroparks Brookside Reservation (3900 John Nagy Blvd., Cleveland, OH 44144). We welcome a FEST intern next weekend before all the Masses to share with us more information. You can also go to the website, www.TheFEST.us, for details.
As we prepare for our Nation’s celebration of Independence Day next weekend, and a typical time for many families to take vacations, whether you are staying in town or traveling, know that we keep you in prayer and are grateful for all you do for our parish family. You are a treasured member of our parish community, and we look forward to seeing you each week at Mass, in person or online. Pray for us, O’ holy Mother of God.
