Dear Parish Family, In today’s gospel, we heard the Beatitudes. Jesus says, “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.” This does not mean that poverty itself is good, but that those who recognize their dependence on God are truly blessed. The danger is not having possessions but trusting them instead of trusting God. When we focus only on what we own, we may forget to share with those in need.
Throughout Jesus’ ministry, Jesus showed us how to share. He multiplied the loaves and fish to feed the hungry, healed the sick, and welcomed everybody. He reminds us that everything we have—our time, talents, and treasures—are gifts from God meant to be shared. The world tells us that happiness comes from having more, but Jesus teaches the opposite: joy comes from giving. The saints are our most outstanding example—Saint Francis of Assisi gave up his wealth to serve the poor, and Saint Mother Teresa found joy in caring for the sick and dying. When we share, we bless others and experience the peace and fulfillment that come from loving as Christ loves.
This weekend, the 2025 Catholic Charities Appeal takes place in the Diocese. Through this annual appeal, we recognize that we are all part of one family, the Body of Christ. This week is a great opportunity to share what we have with those in need. Our small contributions can add up to a big help for those in need. May we remember that we receive when we give and multiply when we share. Please pledge generously to help us reach our parish goal of $131,894. Thank you for your support and prayers.
